It All Started In Paris
Back in 2011 the first gathering of the international crews kicked off at the Paris Half Marathon. It wasn’t an all guns blazing Bridge The Gap escapade but a group of about 60 people from the crew heading out to tackle an international race. Joining us on the trip were the Team Bangs On The Run Girls and their leader Bangs And A Bun. If my memory serves me right some of the Berlin Graviteam popped up along with a few heads from the Paris Run Club. There were no parties or mass meet and greets but the vibe was strong and fun was had by all. The cheer dem crew was tiny but the voices were loud and it was the race that really brought the crews together. Many of us became runners in that race and I like many threw down a PB that opened the doors to another chapter in my running career. If I worked hard then the times would tumble and the feeling was infectious.
In a week or so I will lead my crew across the seas to Paris where we will regroup with our international brothers and sisters and show the running community how we get down. Some of us will return as veterans but for many it will be their first taste of an organised race and the nerves will soon begin to talk to the brain. So to those of you who need some words of wisdom let me take a fraction of your time.
